In 1998 the Township of Asphodel and the Village of Norwood amalgamated to form the new Township of Asphodel-Norwood.

The Township is located approximately 20 kilometres east of the City of Peterborough. Highway #7 runs through the northern portion of the Township, with Rice Lake and the Trent River located at the southern boundary.
Peterborough County Roads 40 and 45 run north and south through the Township, with the urban centre of Norwood intersecting these roads at Highway #7.
