____________________________________________________________________________________ Questions Community Centre and Recreational Facilties 1. How do I book available ice times? Fire Services 1. When do I need a burn permit? A burn permit is required when you are going to have a fire. The cost is $2.00 and can be purchased by calling the Municipal Office at 639-5343 or the Fire Hall at 639-5412. Environmental Services 1. What are the hours of operation at the Norwood Land Fill site and where is it located? The land fill is open on Monday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m and is located at 187 County Road 40. 2. How much do garbage bag tags cost? Garbage Tags are $1.25 each 3. Where can I pick up garbage bag tags? Garbage tags can be purchased from the Municipal Office, Harvest Cupboard Bulk Foods, Norwood and Hastings Home Hardware, Cornergate Foodland, Mr. Convenience, Macs Milk (Norwood), Nadine's Hair Salon, Norwood Conveneince, Westwood Library and Norwood ESSO. 4. Where can I get a blue box? A blue box can be purchased at the Municipal Office for $7.00. 5. How many garbage bags am I allowed to put out for collection each week? The by-law states that 3 bags are allowed per household per week. 6. Where do I leave my recycling? Recycling can be left at your driveway or taken to the landfill site. 6. What is my cardboard day? Cardboard pick up is the second week of the month on whichever day is your usual recycling day. For example, if your recycling day is Tuesday, your cardboard will be picked up the second Tuesday of the month. 7. Where can I dispose of my hazardous waste? Household Hazardous waste can be taken to 400 Pido Road in Peterborough. The hours of operation are Wednesday to Saturday 8:00 am - 4:00 pm year round. 8. Can I take oil to the landfill station? No, oil must be taken to a household hazardous waste site. 10. When do I need a single use dumping permit? You need a single use dumping permit when someone other than yourself will be taking waste to the landfill site from your property. Ex. If you have a contractor doing some work for you and they will be taking waste from your property to the landfill site. General Questions 1. When are my tax payments due? Tax payments are due in March 14th, May 16th, July and September. If you have any questions regarding your taxes, please contact Christina Wilford at the Municipal Office at 639-5343. 2. Is there a drop off box for payments and letters? Yes, a red drop box is located outside the Municipal Office. It is on the South side of the Town Hall to the right of the entrance door to the Office. 3. How much do dog tags cost? If purchased prior to March 31st...$10.00 per neutered male or spayed female and $15.00 per male or female if not neutered or spayed. After March 31st...$15.00 per neutered male or spayed female and $20.00 per male or female if not neutered or spayed. Tags can be purchased in person or by mail at The Township of Asphodel-Norwood, located at 2357 County Road 45, P.O. Box 29, Norwood, ON, K0L 2V0. When is the Food Bank open and where is it located? The Food Bank is open on the second, fourth and fifth (if there is one) Thursdays of the month.
