What is the netLibrary eBook collection?
___________________________________________________________________________________
The netLibrary eBooks (electronic books) collection includes over 4700 new electronic books, plus many classics that have no copyright restrictions. The collection can be read 24 hours a day via the internet. Books in many different subjects available, including politics, business, health, science, philosophy, literature. Many are reference books, assist with homework or personal research.
The Asphodel Norwood Public Libraries offer eBooks provided by netLibrary through SOLS (Sothern Ontario Library Service), a member of the Consortium of Ontario Libraries (COOL).

How do I find eBooks?
___________________________________________________________________________________
You can search, browse, read, and check out eBooks through terminals in the library, through the Library Catalogue, as well as from home computers via the library webpage.

You can search the Library Catalogue for a subject, author or title - exactly the same as you would for a book or video. If the title is available as an eBook, you can link directly to the eBook by clicking on the address.

You can go directly to the netLibrary web site, and search for eBooks by choosing Basic or Advanced searching. Fill in the fields as indicated, search and the eBook appears on the screen

Can anyone borrow an eBook?
___________________________________________________________________________________
In order to borrow an eBook, you must come to the library and sign up for a free netLibrary eBook account. You must have an e-mail account. (Yahoo!Mail and Hotmail email accounts are acceptable.) Once you have signed up for an account, you can access the eBook collection from any computer with the internet access, at home, at school and at work.

How do I create a netLibrary account?
___________________________________________________________________________________
Click here to go to there netLibrary signup form. This registration must be completed at a Asphodel Norwood Public Library Internet terminal, not via the Internet from a home computer.

Fill in the form, making sure to fill in all the fields, including you email address.

Can I print an eBook?
___________________________________________________________________________________
You can print individyual pages for educational or research purposes. The copyrighted material may be copied following the same guidelines you would use for books at a photocopier. If too many are copied violating copyright laws, netLibrary may deny future access.

How do I read and borrow an eBook?
___________________________________________________________________________________
You can read the book by clicking on View this eBook. It is necessary to check out the book if you want to read it for a short time. While it is being viewed, nobody else can read the book.
If the eBook is inactive for longer than 15 minutes, it will automatically be made available for another user.
If you want to make sure the eBook does not close automatically after 15 minutes, you can check out the eBook. Click on Show Details, the click on Checkout for 2 hours. You must have a netLibrary Asphodel Norwood Library eBook account. See How do I create a netLibrary account
The loan period for an eBook is 2 hours. After that time, the eBook is automatically checked back in, and is available for another user. You can return (or check in) the eBook yourself, if you finish before the 2 hour time limit.
After the book is closed or checked in, it may take up to 15 minutes for the book to be available. You will need Adobe Reader for PDF formatted books.
