The Township of Asphodel-Norwood is located approximately 20 kilometres east of the City of Peterborough. Highway #7 runs through the northern portion of the Township, with Rice Lake and the Trent River located at the southern boundary. Peterborough County Roads 40 and 45 run north and south through the Township, with the urban centre of Norwood intersecting these roads at Highway #7. The Township has a population of just fewer than 4,000 with a small portion of these residents being seasonal. In 1998 the Village of Norwood and the Township of Asphodel amalgamated to form the new Township, thus creating a balanced rural and urban economic community. The Township contains concentrations of this population in urban centre Norwood, the hamlet of Westwood, rural residential areas including Trentview Estates (near Hastings) and Asphodel Heights.
